This week in Fedora (2019w29)

This week's report might remind you of ye good olde times! There's updates for some elementary packages, bringing the latest and greatest - or, in some other cases, bug fixes - to Pantheon desktop environments on a fedora system near you.

The mass rebuild for fedora 31 is scheduled for next week, so I suspect there's going to be the usual burst of activity around that. Stay tuned.

fedora updates

I've rebased the mutter328 compatibility package that's used by gala and the elementary Greeter to the latest release of the 3.28 branch (which is 3.28.4), and applied all available upstream patches on top of it. This should bring in a lot of small improvements and some plugged memory leaks.

package version release changes
mutter328 3.28.4 1.fc31, 1.fc30 latest gnome-3-28 patches

I also bumped the gala package to a new snapshot, which brings a fix for a bug that could occur when changing window state on secondary displays.

package version release changes
gala 0.3.1 0.29.20190712.gita790d2d.fc31, 0.29.20190712.gita790d2d.fc30, 0.27.20190712.gita790d2d.fc29 5f1dbf1 → a790d2d

A new version of the elementary icon theme was released this week as well, and updated packages are already available for fedora. It contains a couple of visual improvements, and some new icons, as well.

package version release changes
elementary-icon-theme 5.0.4 1.fc31, 1.fc30, 1.fc29 5.0.3 → 5.0.4

I've released a new version of my session settings for Pantheon on fedora last week, which bring some more elementaryOS-style settings overrides for users who want them. The new version will be available on fedora 30 and rawhide shortly.

package version release changes
pantheon-session-settings 30.1 1.fc31, 1.fc30 30.0 → 30.1

Finally, a new version of the elementary Terminal was released -- it brings some minor usability improvements. Updated packages will soon be available on all current fedora releases.

package version release changes
elementary-terminal 5.3.6 1.fc31, 1.fc30, 1.fc29 5.3.5 → 5.3.6

COPR updates

I've also updated my COPR package for alias, a shell alias manager, to the latest version. It contains some bug fixes and translations for German.

package version release changes
alias 1.5.2 1 1.4.0 → 1.5.2
